This week at Briarwood Farms, we had an unexpected adventure—one that involved soap, suds, and a serious lack of functional washing machines. That’s right, our beloved washing machine decided to take a permanent vacation, leaving us scrambling to keep up with the never-ending cycle of puppy laundry. And let me tell you, when you run a breeding program, the laundry never stops. Ever.

The Great Laundromat Escapade

So, off we went to the local laundromat, where we quickly realized that laundromat etiquette is about as intense as a Black Friday sale. Finding an available machine was like fighting for toilet paper in 2020—every person for themselves. Then came the cherry on top: the very spacey attendant who asked us, completely deadpan, “Do you know where to put the beads?”

Now, I’m a firm believer in kindness, so I politely kept myself from responding with the first thought that popped into my head (you know what it was). Instead, we smiled, loaded up our machines, and got to work.

More Time for Puppies

With all the extra time spent waiting on laundry (because, of course, we had to wait), we made up for it by spending even more time socializing our puppies. This week, we had two special little helpers—Ani (6) and Titus (4), my niece and nephew. There’s nothing quite like seeing puppies interact with kids. Ani and Titus were the perfect test subjects, helping the puppies learn how to be gentle and affectionate with little humans.

Socialization is a huge part of what we do here. We make sure our puppies are well-adjusted, confident, and ready for their forever families. Watching them bond with Ani and Titus reminded me exactly why we put so much heart into this work.

Coming Soon: Bourbon & Brimstone

Speaking of exciting news, we’re adding a new member to the Briarwood Farms family! Next week, we’ll be bringing home Briarwood Farms Bourbon & Brimstone—or just Bourbon for short. He’s a stunning mini Bernedoodle, and we cannot wait to introduce him to you all. Stay tuned for puppy pictures and all the antics that come with welcoming a new fur baby into the family!

Until next time—may your washing machines work, your puppies be snuggly, and your laundromat trips be few and far between.
